I earned a Ph.D. and M.A. in philosophy from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. with honors in philosophy from Yale University. I completed all levels of energy training with the Healing in America School of Energy Medicine, based in Ojai, California. Beyond the formal training, I draw from my own life experience – living and working with the ancestral communities of the Ecuadorian Chocó rainforest, raising three children, studying and performing music, communing with Nature, practicing meditation…Life everyday is an opportunity to grow, to open our eyes and hearts even more. I am committed to that process and to sharing it with my clients.
In addition to one-one counseling, I am interested in collective healing practices. As a philosopher, I work with larger bodies and processes as well as individuals. How do we heal broken communities? How do we learn and grow through the current dis-ease of humanity? How do we mend and rebuild our relationship with Earth? – I am developing workshops on these topics, as well as addressing them in my writing, including my essay, “Why I Don’t Want to Be Colorblind,” my academic book, Facing Relativism (under contract with Springer Publishing), and my philosophical memoir, The Emerald Shaman (in progress).
