Terms and Conditions for Services
These Terms and Conditions for Services describe the nature and scope of the services I provide, your rights and responsibilities as a client, important limitations of my work, and the policies that apply when you work with me individually or participate in a live group service.
Please read this agreement carefully before booking or participating in a service.
Training and Experience
My name is Alyssa Luboff, Ph.D. I am a philosopher, meditation guide, and certified energy healer.
I hold a Ph.D. and M.A. in philosophy from the University of Chicago and a B.A. in philosophy from Yale University. I also completed a year of undergraduate philosophy studies at the Sorbonne in France. I am a certified energy healing practitioner of the Healing in America School of Holistic Energy Healing.
Healing, mindfulness, philosophy, and their application to everyday life have been the focus of my research, teaching, and practice since 2014.
Nature of Services
My work brings together philosophy, mindfulness, guided healing, and energy healing through a framework I call the Energetic Picture.
Depending on the service you choose, our work may include dialogue, teaching, personal reflection, intuitive observations, Energetic Pictures, contemplative exercises, breathing or imagery practices, meditation, and guided healing.
Some sessions focus primarily on conversation, teaching, or reflection. Others include extended guided meditation. Mentoring may combine dialogue, personalized practices, ongoing reflection, and shorter guided meditations according to your interests and needs.
Guided healing is conducted through meditation, imagery, attention, dialogue, and related contemplative practices. I do not provide massage, bodywork, hands-on energy treatment, or physical manipulation.
Services may be offered individually or in live group settings and are conducted fully online.
For purposes of these Terms, the word “client” includes a person receiving an individual service or participating in a live group service.
The Energetic Picture
The Energetic Picture is a method I developed for exploring aspects of wellbeing through philosophy, mindfulness, imagery, intuition, embodiment, and energy healing.
An Energetic Picture may help us notice where you are in relation to a particular aspect of wellbeing, explore patterns or influences that may be relevant to your experience, and identify possible directions or next steps.
The method emphasizes curiosity, compassion, clarity, and an openness to what is not yet known. An Energetic Picture is not intended to judge you, prescribe a single correct path, or tell you what you must believe or do.
As a philosopher, I often work through dialogue and questions. As a meditation guide and energy healer, I may also invite you to experience an idea through imagery, bodily awareness, meditation, or other contemplative practices.
Scope of Practice and Professional Boundaries
My services are educational, philosophical, contemplative, spiritual, and wellness-oriented in nature.
I do not diagnose medical or psychiatric conditions, prescribe medication, practice medicine, provide psychotherapy or psychiatric treatment, or provide emergency or crisis mental health care.
My services are not a substitute for medical care, psychotherapy, psychiatric care, or other services provided by appropriately qualified professionals.
Nothing offered during a session should be understood as medical, psychiatric, psychological, legal, financial, or other licensed professional advice.
If you have, or believe you may have, a physical or mental health condition, you are responsible for seeking appropriate evaluation and treatment from a qualified health-care professional.
You should not discontinue, delay, or change medical or mental health treatment, medication, or other professional care on the basis of something that occurs during one of my services without consulting the appropriate provider.
My services may be used alongside conventional medical or mental health care when appropriate, but they do not replace it.
What to Expect During Dialogue and Mentoring
Dialogue is an important part of my work as a philosopher and teacher. During a consultation or mentoring session, we may explore a question, experience, pattern, relationship, decision, or area of personal or spiritual growth that you bring to the session.
I may ask questions, help you examine an issue from different perspectives, teach concepts or practices, suggest tools for further reflection, or offer an Energetic Picture or intuitive observation when appropriate.
Rather than providing fixed answers or telling you what decisions to make, my role is to support a process of exploration, understanding, and growth. Our dialogue may sometimes lead to a contemplative exercise, imagery practice, brief meditation, or another practice that helps you engage with what we have been discussing in a different way.
Mentoring provides an opportunity to continue this process over time. We may revisit previous conversations, reflect on what you have experienced between sessions, develop or adapt practices, and explore new questions as they arise.
What to Expect During Guided Healing
A guided healing session generally includes time at the beginning to discuss what you are experiencing and what you would like to explore during the session.
During the guided portion, you may sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Your eyes may be open or closed. I may use spoken guidance, imagery, breathing, focused attention, silence, or other meditative techniques to support relaxation, awareness, reflection, and a sense of greater balance or integration.
Guided healing often involves working experientially with an Energetic Picture. You may be invited to enter into a picture through imagery, sensation, attention, and intuition and to notice how the picture changes or shifts as the meditation unfolds. These shifts may offer a felt experience of greater balance, clarity, connection, or wellbeing and new ways of relating to thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, relationships, or life circumstances.
Afterward, we may discuss what arose during the meditation, any shifts or insights you experienced, and possible ways to integrate your experience into daily life.
When participating online, you are responsible for choosing a setting in which you can safely and comfortably engage in the session. A quiet and private space is recommended.
It is normal for attention to wander during meditation, and some people may occasionally fall asleep. If you notice that your attention has wandered, you may simply return to the guidance when you are ready.
Intuitive Observations and Client Agency
At times, I may share an intuitive impression, an Energetic Picture, or another perspective that arises during our work together.
These observations are offered as possibilities for your reflection. They are not medical or psychological diagnoses, objective facts that you are required to accept, predictions of future events, or instructions that you are required to follow.
You remain the primary authority over your own experience, beliefs, choices, and decisions.
You are encouraged to question, disagree with, modify, or decline any interpretation, practice, suggestion, intuitive observation, or spiritual framework that does not feel appropriate or useful to you.
Potential Benefits, Limitations, and Risks
People seek my services for many reasons, including personal reflection, spiritual exploration, relaxation, greater clarity, support during periods of change, development of contemplative practices, and exploration of patterns affecting wellbeing.
Possible benefits may include greater relaxation, insight, self-awareness, confidence, clarity, compassion, a stronger sense of connection, or an increased ability to respond thoughtfully to life circumstances.
Experiences and results vary widely. I make no guarantees or promises regarding the outcome of any session, class, mentoring relationship, meditation, Energetic Picture, or guided healing practice.
Meditation, introspection, philosophical dialogue, and guided healing can sometimes bring difficult emotions, memories, thoughts, physical sensations, or unexpected insights into awareness.
You may pause or stop an exercise or session at any time.
If you experience significant, persistent, or concerning physical or psychological symptoms during or following a service, you should seek appropriate professional care rather than assuming that the symptoms are a normal or necessary part of a healing process.
Emergencies and Crisis Situations
My services are not intended to provide emergency medical care, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, or emergency mental health treatment.
If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a medical or mental health emergency in the United States, contact 911, 988, or another appropriate emergency or crisis service.
If you are outside the United States, contact the emergency or crisis service appropriate to your location.
Do not use a scheduled session, website contact form, email, or other routine communication with me as a substitute for emergency assistance.
Confidentiality
I respect your privacy and will treat personal information that you share with me in connection with individual services as confidential, subject to the limitations described below.
I may maintain basic client information, such as your name, contact information, address, appointment history, and payment-related records through the systems used to operate my practice. I may also keep brief notes relating to our sessions.
I do not ordinarily maintain extensive medical, psychological, or clinical records.
Information may be disclosed when you authorize me to share it or when disclosure is required or permitted by law, including in response to valid legal process or when reasonably necessary to address an imminent risk of serious harm.
I may occasionally discuss general themes, common questions, or anonymized examples arising from my professional experience for educational purposes, including in classes, podcasts, writing, or other teaching materials. Whenever an experience is distinctive enough that anonymizing it would not reasonably protect the person's identity, I will materially alter identifying details before sharing it. I will not disclose your name, identifying information, or details that would reasonably allow you to be identified without your permission.
Privacy in Group Services
Live group classes and programs create opportunities for participants to learn from and support one another. They also involve different limits on confidentiality than individual sessions.
You agree to respect the privacy of other participants and not intentionally disclose another participant's personal information or personal experiences outside the group without that person's permission.
I will treat information shared by participants in accordance with my own confidentiality practices. However, because other group participants are independent individuals, I cannot guarantee that another participant will maintain confidentiality.
You should therefore use your own judgment when deciding how much personal information to share in a group setting.
